For The Village provides free doula services and lactation support to people of color, members of the LGBTQIA community, and low income families. Please go to https://forthevillage.org/

Global Communities Healthy Start 

Global Communities Healthy Start partners with The San Diego Breastfeeding center to cover in-office visits. Qualifications according to Global Communities Healthy Start website: “ Must be pregnant and identify as Black, African American or Black immigrant. Women who qualify for WIC, MediCAL or CalFRESH may also be eligible” Please go to https://globalcommunities.org/healthy-start/ 

WIC Peer Counselor Program

WIC has a lactation peer counselor program. Families must join the program during pregnancy and are paired with a Lactation Counselor, join prenatal/postpartum lactation support group, and have acess to a lactation consultant if indicated. See your local WIC for enrollment during pregnancy.
